Making Money Less Weird: A Workshop for Women

What is your relationship like with money?

For many of us, money is a complicated companion in life. Maybe we have it, but don't know what we're "supposed to" do with it. Or we feel guilty about spending it, resentful of not having enough, or numb when spending.

Money is interwoven with our emotions and how we see ourselves. But few of us received the support and advice we needed to have a positive relationship with it.

Join us for an intimate workshop on how to make money less weird, led by wellness coach Annie Robinson and financial adviser Kristin Merrick. Through reflective exercises, guided discussions, and practical tips, you will leave feeling clarity and peace about your financial wellbeing.

Location: 52 Mercer Street, 5th Floor

$75

Stories of Self

Our lives are tapestries woven of stories. Sometimes we feel like the author of these stories, and other times we feel like characters in them without much agency in their unfolding.

What stories are you living right now that feel limiting? Which scenes in your life do you not want to continue enacting?

Shame and vulnerability researcher Brené Brown notes: “Facing our stories takes courage. But owning our stories is the only way we get to write a brave new ending.”

In this workshop, we will both face and own our stories through somatic practices, group discussion, and narrative medicine. We will rewrite our stories into ones that serve our greatest potential and support us living meaningful lives.

Learning to Let Go

Are there circumstances in your life that you want to change? When we want to get that job, that relationship, that body, we often will employ our cunning and energy to attain the outcomes we desire. But we are not always able to control what happens, and our striving often creates unnecessary suffering.

Although admitting “I don’t know” is scary and humbling, it is a reliably effective way to respond to uncertainty. How can we put this mantra into play, in real time? How can we overcome our resistance to releasing willfulness? What does it look like to live each day accepting what is, and surrendering to the greater forces that guide us?

In this workshop, through guided meditations, group discussion, and narrative medicine, we will practice the art of surrender. We will cultivate skills to discern when and how to let go, in order to ride life’s waves with greater ease and trust.

From Loss to Resilience

Loss is a part of life that we all face, in many forms: relationships end; loved ones die; we move homes, change jobs, and shift identities. When loss threatens our sense of safety, we often experience anger, fear, and/or sadness.

How can we navigate life's inescapable transitions, tend to our grief, and restore our center?

Resilience enables us to move through loss with self-awareness, courage, and grace. Blessedly, we are all born with the resilience we need to get through everything that comes our way. In the wake of loss, we not only can draw on our innate resilience to cope--we also have a unique opportunity to nurture and expand it.

In this workshop, through somatic practices, meditations, discussion, ritual, and narrative medicine, you will explore personal experiences of loss and leave with your innate resilience awakened!

The Art of Listening: An Evening of Narrative Medicine

"Listening is not a reaction, it is a connection."

- Ursula Le Guinn

Listening is an act of love—it is the greatest gift we can give each other. Yet how often do you find yourself only halfheartedly present, distracted, or trying to figure out what you "should" say?

The simple but profound act of being completely present to another person—without judgments or an agenda—takes practice and commitment.

In this 2-hour workshop at Maha Rose Center for Healing, Annie will guide you in this practice of presence using meditation and narrative medicine --a deep discussion of a poem, after which we pour ourselves forth onto a blank page, writing to a prompt related to the poem.

You’ll leave with awakened confidence in your listening skills and a clear understanding of how to:

• Tune into your own body, mind, and heart

• Deeply receive what you hear, and mindfully respond

• Develop intimacy through generous listening

• Navigate the challenges that arise in offering complete presence
